Why gift-finder funnels stall before wrap

Across several Midlands gift commissions, the same stall appears: shoppers finish a gift-finder questionnaire, land on a mixed bestsellers grid, and leave before wrap or collection options appear.

The questionnaire feels personal. The grid does not. Shoppers who answered “for a niece who likes ceramics” meet a tile wall that ignores that answer. Our path panels mark that handoff as a named friction point rather than a vague “engagement drop.”

What we recommend writing into the report

  • A labelled results panel that restates the gift-finder answers above the product tiles
  • Wrap and collection choices surfaced before the basket, not after payment anxiety peaks
  • A secondary path for shoppers who abandon the finder mid-question — they still need a readable route into category

None of this requires a new media plan. It requires the trading team to own the handoff copy between finder and grid. The path report’s job is to make that ownership visible in one illustrated sequence.
